Lots of sand
Shanklin beach
A large beach very popular with families, although not quite as vast as Sandown's. Car parking is on The Esplanade itself or in a medium sized car park half way along near to The Cliff Lift or another at the East end of the beach - all pay and display. There is a cliff lift up to the Town area. It is also possible to park in the pay and display car park at Shanklin Old Village and walk down. Cafe's, pubs, hotels, toilets two crazy golf courses and some amusements along its length. It can get very hot here, lots of soft sand. Fishermans Cottage pub is at The South end.
Looking North and in the direction of Lake and Sandown in the distance and in the far distance Culver cliffs where there is Culver Down. Popular with families due to its size, watersports for hire and lifeguards here and this is one of our favourite beaches, and yet it still has a couple of quiet parts, beyond The fisherman's Cottage and at the other end of the beach is Small Hope beach. View looking over the Fishermans Cottage, the look out platform can be seen on the right of the picture this is on the edge of Shanklin Chine which is also accessible from an entrance close to the pub. Situated about half way along the long Esplanade is the cliff lift behind a large coach and car park. Use the cliff lift for a fee or walk up the steps and slopes nearby. A third indoor crazy golf is here half way along the esplanade - very handy if the weather takes a turn. The Fisherman's Cottage pub is at the quieter end of the beach and adjacent is the entrance or exit to Shanklin Chine.
