The Botanic Gardens
This is an interesting place for a pleasant amble amongst sub-tropical and exotic plants and trees from around the world. This location has it's own mini climate where summers can be really hot and winters are quite mild. Cafe, gift shop.
Nice weather is the best choice for visiting The Botanic Gardens which many years ago was the site for Ventnor Hospital, specifically for those suffering from chest diseases such as consumption or TB. Parking is Free when purchasing an entry ticket or possibly when purchasing from the shop or Cafe - please do check this, especially if you wish to walk to the nearby Steephill Cove from here which is recommended. Some of the plants are representations of graphical regions with an impressive selection of succulents and cacti and not forgetting the impressive giant echiums which are seen on The Island in the lower regions especially. We have grown echiums in the past but these are not too frost hardy and the plant transforms itself in its second year to a tall flowering plant. Wild echiums at Bembridge.
