The Tree
The Tree is a free attraction and we came across this for the first time recently despite visiting The Island for over 25 years. The Tree came third place in the Woodland's Trust Tree of The Year competition. Its large thick horizontal branches go on and on, its quite a sight.
The mythical Dragon Tree is a monstrous old oak and quite a sight to behold. Local legend however holds that the tree was once a dragon that terrorised locals. A knight, recently returned from the crusades, fought the beast. When he struck the fatal blow, the dragon turned to wood and laid down roots, becoming the tree that forms such an integral part of the local landscape. Easiest way to find this is on Google maps, a small pond is nearby.
