Priory Bay

Priory Bay is something a bit special, no facilities here at all, no parking and private access from the land opposite the bay, however access is possible from its beach edges. Some remains of old sea fortifications dotted about the Eastern edge of the bay. Tropical looking with trees along the waters edge in places. When I first saw it from Nodes Point direction I thought it was a scene from Far Cry or a tropical island. Quiet and peaceful.

How to get there: From St. Helens head to Nodes Point {left at the Church Tower} and continue around the corner over rocks/boulders to get first sight of the bay - best not at high tide and good foot wear recommended. Alternative method is from the other side of the bay from Seagrove Bay via Horsehoe Point {a raised broadwalk}, this may be easier. There is another way a public Footpath through the woods from Nodes Point area but this is very muddy and steep, this year 2024 a very large diversion was in place because of this, and a diversion and warning sign posted - this took you to Seagrove Bay side anyway. Priory Bay A bit of a hidden gem this beach. Seagrove only just visible on the far right. Priory Bay We have been a few times now, each time from Nodes Point access and its been worth it. Nodes Point and the corner that you walk around in the picture above. Priory Bay View from the end of the beach at Priory Bay, Seagrove Bay is in the picture with the broadwalk just visible on the far left in the picture.
